Written around the 6th century BC The Art of War is one of the oldest books about war and military strategy and probably the best.
This book first found a European audience when it was translated into French in 1782 and since then its readers have included Napoleon General Macarthur and Mao Zedong. The lessons in the volume still apply and its ancient wisdom shows you how to secure your objectives in business sport and other areas of modern life.
About the Author
Sun Tzu is a honorific title bestowed upon Sun Wu (c. 544-496 BC), the author of The Art of War, an immensely influential ancient Chinese book on military strategy. He is also one of the earliest realists in international relations theory.
In the author’s name, Sun Wu, the character wu, meaning “military”, is the same as the character in wu shu, or martial art. Sun Wu also has a courtesy name, Chang Qing (Cháng Qing).
